Celebrate the Holiday Season With Coffee

While the Portland International Airport is a little quieter than usual, travelers can still rely on the caffeinated goodness of coffee when they come to PDX.

Dedicated coffee shops Portland Coffee Roasters and Stumptown – both local Portland favorites – are brewing up your favorite coffee drinks at PDX right now. And they have some delicious holiday flavors you don’t want to miss.

Portland Coffee Roasters

You can find three Portland Coffee Roasters locations at PDX: in the ticket lobby, on the end of Concourse C, and in the North Lobby just beyond the Concourse D/E Security Checkpoint.

We caught up with Kate Meredith, cafe manager for Portland Coffee Roasters, to get her holiday coffee recommendations.

“I would always recommend our seasonal coffee, and the 2020 Holiday Roast is SO very good! It comes from Mexico’s Oaxaca and has notes of dark chocolate with a smooth sweet finish.”

Every holiday season, Portland Coffee Roasters chooses an organization to partner with. For each bag they sell, they donate $1 to Food 4 Farmers, which works in Latin American countries with coffee-growing families to ensure food security.

Back again this year is Portland Coffee Roasters’ signature Peppermint Mocha. And Kate wants to make sure you know, this isn’t like every other peppermint mocha on the market.

“I know what you’re thinking, ‘Everyone has that during the holiday season.’ Well, I’m here to tell you that ours is special!” Kate said. “We add just a hint of cherry flavor to make this decadent treat even more spectacular. When I tried ours for the first time a few years ago, I was converted forever. I try very hard to limit myself to one or two a week during this time of year … I don’t usually succeed though.”

Did You Know? Portland Coffee Roasters uses the AtYourGate delivery app, which means you can get their coffee delivered to you curbside at PDX. Even if you aren’t traveling, you can pull up to the upper roadway (Departures level) and an AtYourGate rep will deliver your order without you having to leave your car.

Stumptown Coffee Roasters

Stumptown is located in the South Lobby just after you pass through the Concourse B/C Security Checkpoint.

Ebony Plamondon, who manages the Stumptown at PDX, highlighted the holiday drink flavors that she and travelers love.

Stumptown’s Eggnog Latte and Mint Mocha — two favorites during this time of year — became available on December 1. The Pumpkin Spice Latte is also still on the Stumptown menu, offering warm fall vibes as the weather turns cooler.

Ebony was excited to let us know that, between Dec. 13 and Dec. 25, Stumptown is also offering a free 4-pack of Winter Cheer Cold Brew for anyone who purchases $20 in merchandise or whole bean coffee.

If you simply need a little brewed coffee, you can find that at most restaurants, including Flying Elephant’s Deli in our pre-security area, Tillamook Market on Concourse E, and McDonald’s on Concourse C.

Check out the full list of restaurants and shops that are currently open on our Travel Safe website (Note: their hours may vary right now). And enjoy your festive holiday blends while they’re available.
