An iconic structure in the airport will be lifting off in May.
Affectionately known as “The Rocketship,” construction crews are removing the FIDS display next to the south security checkpoint starting Monday, May 4.
There will be barricades set up around the structure and crews will be working to remove it. Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., there may be disruptive noise from tools or equipment, especially during the latter part of the week.
The removal of the structure is part of early preparation work on the new main terminal construction at PDX, which begins next year and includes expanding PDX 150 to the west. Learn more on the PDX Next website.
Thanks for your patience as we update and upgrade PDX.
