Mask Requirement Ends on Airport Property

You may have heard the news that a federal judge in Florida struck down the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mask requirement on airplanes, trains, buses and other public transportation.

Based on this ruling, the Transportation Security Administration has withdrawn the mask requirement. This means that you no longer need to wear a face covering at PDX, on airport property or in airport shuttles. If you encounter a traveler with questions, please direct them to our Travel Safe website.

We recognize that some of you might have mixed feelings about this sudden change and ask that everyone be kind and respectful of a person’s individual decision to wear a mask. We also acknowledge that coronavirus cases are on the rise once again, and that wearing masks, keeping physical distance and getting vaccinated are still important tools to stay healthy.

As we have throughout the pandemic, if guidance changes, we’ll promptly communicate updates.
