Judy Grimes’ shift as a PDX volunteer was over at 5 p.m., but she wasn’t willing to leave the side of an elderly traveler with dementia. While the woman’s son made the rush hour drive from Hillsboro to PDX, Judy waited patiently and the two women enjoyed a pleasant and animated conversation until he arrived. Every day, our PDX volunteers – we call them VIPs – go above and beyond to meet the needs of our travelers.
